AP Chemistry:
Very briefly, we have continued our memorize me quizzes every Friday and have 4 labs graded thus far for the term. These include Experiments #13, 5, 15, and 8. We did Experiment #17 on 2.9.12 (due TOMORROW on 2.17.12) and did Experiment #16 on 2.16.12 (due 2.24.12). The Quiz over Chapter 14 (solutions) took place on 1.20.12 and the Quiz over Chapter 16 (equilibrium basics) took place on 2.6.12. We are almost done with Chapter 17 (acid-base equilibrium) and plan to test over this on 2.21.12 (next Tuesday). The new topic for this week on the MMQ is the electromagnetic spectrum (see textbook p. 299) and it WILL include reaction prediction (see the bottom of this blogpage).
Tomorrow, then, Lab 17 write up is due, we have a memorize me quiz, and we will finish up material in Chapter 17.
The purpose of this site is two-fold: (1) keep parents and students informed of day-to-day activities of the classes I teach and (2) provide additional/advanced/current information about chemistry for your enjoyment.
Have some fun!

SCIENCE READING REPORT (Reporting the Story) - Extra Credit Opportunity
Directions:
Find a chemistry-related or science-related article from the newspaper, internet, or magazine (dated 2009 or newer, please!) OR watch a science program on TV (a news snippet, NOVA, something on the History Channel…)
Report the science facts on your own paper according to the outline below. Remember to cite your source!!
— Source:
Use MLA or APA formatting – see your planners or search online how to do this!
— Title of Article/Program:
— Date of print/airing:
— What happened / what is being researched / what new development is occurring? Why did it happen? (Give me at least 5 sentences minimum here…)
— Who are the main characters?
— When and Where did this happen?
— How did it end / what’s up next?
— Your personal thoughts and opinions on this topic:
