Monday 8.23.10 General Chem

General Chemistry:
Today we did:
  • I checked for supplies
  • Students listed characteristics of good/bad teachers/students - Trimble will compile tonight for discussion tomorrow on the additional guidelines for the class
  • Students did a Learning Style Worksheet
  • We checked out books to everyone
  • We drew cards and signed up for our Reading Reports (a.k.a. Science in the News)
  • I introduced my blogpage
  • I reminded the students of the 'free stuff cupboard'

For tomorrow:

  • Bring supplies if you forgot them!!!
  • Read and take notes over Chapter 1, Section 1 in your textbook
  • Complete the first section of the Basic Skills Workbook (handed out in class)

Plans for tomorrow include:

  • Discuss note-taking with the Cornell Note System
  • Discuss the first section of the Basic Skills Workbook
  • Discuss Significant Figures
  • Check to see who has goggles and who needs another pair
  • Watch the Safety Video and complete the safety worksheet (goes with the video)
  • Lab Orientation
  • Safety Contract
  • Sections 2 and 3 in the Basic Skills Workbook for Homework
  • Read/take notes (in Cornell Form) over Chapter 1, Sections 2 and 3 in the textbook
